I have been trying to get pregnant for six months but have been unable to get pregnant. What should I do?
For women under the age of 35, infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse (for those women over 35 years of age it is six months). Couples who suspect that there is a reason for their inability to conceive should seek out help right away. Reasons for seeking help earlier include: endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, male factor infertility, irregular cycles and known fallopian tube scarring or blockage.

Why can't I get pregnant?
Infertility affects about one in seven couples. Approximately 35% of the time, the cause of the infertility will be related to the female. In another 35% of cases, the infertility will be related to the male. In 20% of couples, there will be a combined problem. Finally, 10% of infertility is "unexplained." Unexplained infertility can often be successfully treated. In fact, treatments for unexplained infertility are frequently as effective as treatments in couples where the cause of the infertility is known.
What is the success rate for in vitro fertilization at InVia Fertility Specialists?
Our success rates are available on our website. When reviewing success rates and comparing infertility treatment centers, it is important to look at the live birth rate, not just the pregnancy rate.

Does my health insurance cover infertility treatment?
In Illinois, infertility coverage is mandated for certain companies (see www.insurance.illinois.gov/healthinsurance/infertility.asp for more information). This means that your employer may be offered the option of purchasing infertility coverage for you as part of your health insurance policy. It is a good idea to contact your insurance company or employer directly to inquire about the specifics of your insurance benefits. Couples are often pleasantly surprised to find out how much of their infertility services are covered by their insurance.
What if I have no insurance coverage for in vitro fertilization?
For couples without insurance, our Shared IVF Success Program may enable them to financially plan their treatment, since costs are known "up front". This program covers the cost of multiple cycles of IVF. If a pregnancy does not occur, the program fee will be refunded at 100%.
