InVia IVF success rates 2014

IVF success rates InVia 2014When considering working with a fertility clinic, it is very important to review the clinic's IVF success rates. As a prospective patient, you need to know the clinic's success rates with fresh embryo transfer as well as embryo banking cycles, frozen embryo cycles, and frozen egg cycles.

2014 was a very successful year for InVia's IVF program. The table below presents IVF success rates in 2014 for all patients who had a fresh embryo transfer at our clinic. Final numbers for 2014 will be available at the beginning of next year due to the required timeline for data collection on live births; they will be published on our IVF success rates page. Data for embryo banking cycles, frozen embryo cycles and frozen egg cycles will be presented in a follow up blog.

InVia fresh cycle PR 2014

As presented in the table above, in patients under age 35, there were 108 embryo transfers. Of these 66% had a positive pregnancy test, 62% progressed to a point where a pregnancy could be seen on ultrasound and 58% progressed beyond 12 weeks (some unfortunately had a miscarriage). We continue to find patients 43 years an older to be a challenge. Currently we are using innovative stimulation protocols and pre-implantation genetic screening of embryos to try and improve outcomes.

Why do success rates vary?

Clinics treat patients with different diagnoses and this will affect the average success rates

  • Many clinics carry out too few cycles each year to reliably predict a patient's future chance of success
  • The success rates relate to a period of treatment from about two years ago and may not be a good indication of success rates at the particular clinic today

Factors that can affect the success rates of a particular clinic are:

  • Patient age
  • Patient diagnosis
  • Length of infertility
  • Patient characteristics, such as weight, smoking, and other lifestyle factors

The data presented in this report should not be used for comparing clinics. Clinics may have differences in patient selection, treatment approaches, and cycle reporting practices, which may inflate or lower pregnancy rates relative to another clinic. Each patient should discuss this with her doctor.
