Excuses, Excuses, Excuses

help

It can get tiring listening to excuses that people give when it comes to eating healthy and exercising. Never before has there been this much information on the benefits of eating healthy and staying active. Your quality of life increases dramatically as well as your health. Recent findings have shown a 68% drop in IVF success when a person’s BMI is >35…..67%!! I’m here to tell you to GET UP (off the couch), GET OUT (of the house) and PUSH YOURSELF AWAY (from the table because it’s these ridiculous portion sizes that’s doing it to you). All right here they come, the excuses you’ve used since your last final exam.

  1. “I don’t have time to exercise” says the person who watches 6 hours of reality TV per week. Prioritize; the Kardashian’s can wait.

  2. “I’m not that overweight” says the person with a 40 inch waist, a BMI of 42 and is 5’6” 225 pounds. YES YOU ARE! Educate yourself on what’s normal.

  3. “My doctor told me not to exercise” says the person who only heard what they wanted to hear. No they didn’t. Maybe a specific form of exercise, but take a look at the gyms now a day, there’s practically every type of machine out there that’s low impact. And if you can’t afford a gym, I get it, walk around your neighborhood. Too cold? Too hot? GET OVER IT AND DO IT! That’s a TERRIBLE excuse.

  4. “Eating healthy takes too much time, I don’t have the time to shop and cook” says the person who averages 15 minutes to the drive through, 15 minutes waiting in the drive through and 15 minutes driving home. Come on, really? Shopping for your food and cooking your own food take significantly less time. If you don’t believe me, call me and my friend Corey Kelly will prove it.

  5. “I just don’t have the time” says the person one more time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know this was number one. I’m putting it again because it’s the number one excuse. Most people work 40 hours per week. There’s 168 hours in a week. Let’s assume if you’re lucky you get 8 hours of sleep per night. That’s 112 hours per week you’re awake. Minus the 40 hours you work leaves you with 72 hours. Everyone should be a marathon runner with that amount of time. I get it, you have to take the kids somewhere, you’re taking a class, grocery shopping comes into play and you have to clean the house. That still doesn’t come close to 72 hours. If it does you’re lying. If you want to continue with the lie I’ll tell you to walk at lunch, walk at your kids game, cook all your lunches on Sunday night, I’ll have an answer for any excuse you want to throw out.

I can go on and on. Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol are running ramped in our society and most of the time they’re self-inflicted. Don’t look at it as giving up everything you’ve been doing all at once. Take baby steps; win the week, not the day. Educate yourself on what your body needs and how to get rid of those nasty cravings. Challenge yourself, set goals, be your own worst critic. Choose today, to make each day from this point forward, to be of the quality you know you deserve.
