IVF in Illinois

In vitro fertilization (IVF) allows us to support couples and individuals who need assistance growing their family. At InVia Fertility, our board-certified reproductive endocrinologists and team of fertility specialists can help you start IVF in Illinois.

With clinics in Chicago, Arlington Heights, Crystal Lake, Hoffman Estates, Rockford, and Northbrook, Illinois, you can start fertility treatments that allow you to have a baby.

The IVF Process

The IVF cycle involves several procedures and processes to complete the fertilization of a mature egg and transfer the embryo back into the uterus.

In the weeks leading up to the egg retrieval, our specialists will need to stimulate the ovaries and increase egg production. This is done through daily hormone injections, which can be self-administered. These injections prevent premature ovulation and allow multiple ovarian follicles to reach maturity, producing more eggs than a typical ovulation cycle.

Your ovarian follicles will be monitored as they grow to select the right time for egg retrieval. When your eggs have reached maturity, your physician will advise you to take a self-administered “trigger shot” to induce ovulation. You will then be scheduled for an egg retrieval about 36 hours following the trigger shot.

The egg retrieval is an in-office procedure done under anesthesia that uses ultrasound imaging to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and collect the eggs. We can then fertilize them with sperm in our state-of-the-art IVF lab. Fertilized embryos are monitored by our highly skilled embryologists in our IVF lab for five days as the embryo cells multiply and divide, growing into a blastocyst.

Our embryologists then grade the day-5 embryos based on development and the healthiest embryo will be selected for transfer. Throughout the process, you will be routinely monitored and tested by our team to track your progress. We are committed to providing compassionate, personal care throughout your treatment.

Cryopreservation

As part of our fertility treatments, our specialists can freeze embryos through the process of cryopreservation. This allows you to undergo IVF at a time that’s right for you. If you and your partner plan on having children together later in life or you’re using donor sperm, embryo cryopreservation can increase the chances of a successful pregnancy. Cryopreservation can also be used if your IVF cycle resulted in multiple healthy embryos, allowing you to transfer one now and return later for another child using another one of your embryos.

For patients undergoing Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT-A and PGT-M), cryopreservation will be part of the process for embryo biopsy and awaiting test results.

Who is a Good IVF Candidate?

Whether you and your partner are struggling to conceive or you are unable to have children on your own, IVF can make your family dreams possible. We accept patients with various needs and backgrounds because we believe that everyone who wants to have a baby should be able to.

Some individuals experience conditions that disrupt their fertility, such as endometriosis. Others desire to be single parents or are in a same-sex relationship. No matter your reason for seeking IVF and fertility treatment, you can rely on the support of our specialists.

Infertility Testing

Before starting IVF, it’s important that we test your fertility to determine the right treatment approach. Infertility is a frustrating diagnosis, but it shouldn’t prevent you from growing your family the way you want. Once we have a stronger understanding of your fertility, we can personalize your IVF treatment and work toward a successful outcome.
