Losing weight is never an easy task, especially in the Chicagoland area because of our long, cold and snowy winters. Being cooped up in the house has everyone craving comfort food. But if you're trying to get pregnant, you probably know that maintaining a healthy body weight can improve your chances of success. Why Cutting Carbs Works

Your body has three sources of energy – carbohydrates, proteins and fats. When you eat foods that are high in carbohydrates, your pancreas begins to produce insulin to combat the sugar that has entered your system. Your pancreas doesn’t know when it’s produced enough insulin to combat all of the sugar in your body, so it continues to produce insulin. This leads to cravings for sugary snacks as your body is trying to balance the sugar and insulin.

Reducing carbohydrates, especially processed carbohydrates like white flour and white sugar, shuts down the pancreas and forces the body to find another energy source. A high-protein diet that’s low in fat allows the body to break down the stored fat as its primary source of energy.

Where You'll Lose Weight

We store our fat in our chest, waist, hips, upper arms and upper thighs. As we begin using our stored fat as our primary source of energy you’ll begin to see inches being lost in those specific areas.
