To determine the best fertility treatment for you, your fertility specialist will require fertility testing.
One aspect of fertility testing for men is semen analysis. A semen analysis looks at the sperm volume in a sample, the sperm activity/motility, and the sperm shape/morphology. The shape, movement, and volume of sperm in an ejaculate sample can affect a man’s ability to conceive naturally.

Medication
If you're struggling with erectile dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, or an infection that may affect fertility, medication can help.
Surgery
Some men have blockages from a prior vasectomy or natural anatomical abnormalities. An outpatient surgery can reconnect the vas deferens, which allows sperm to enter semen again and become part of your ejaculate.
If there is a condition, such as the congenital absence of the vas deferens, sperm can be extracted surgically to be used in tandem with assisted reproductive technologies.
Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)
If your sperm count and quality are low, ART treatments may be recommended. Fertility treatments that are considered part of ART are in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). With ARTs, healthy sperm are specifically selected from a sample you provide to increase the chance of successful fertilization.
If the sperm are unable to fertilize an egg with ART fertility treatments or if you have a genetic condition you don't want to pass on, donor sperm can also be used with treatments like IVF and IUI.
